Why Preeti text looks broken elsewhere. Preeti is not Nepali text — it is Latin characters that the Preeti font happens to draw as Devanagari. Open the same file without that font and you see gibberish. Converting to Unicode makes it real Nepali text that any device can read, search and copy.
Why simple find-and-replace fails. Preeti stores the i-matra (ि) before its consonant, because that is where it is drawn. Unicode stores it after. This converter moves it to the right side of the whole consonant cluster, which is the step most quick converters get wrong.
Proofread the result. Common words convert reliably; rare conjuncts and unusual punctuation may not. Read the output before you use it in an official document.
